Photos: New Orleans Chamber Orchestra performs ‘Dreams en Français’ at Marigny Opera House

The New Orleans Chamber Orchestra’s performance Dreams en Français at the Marigny Opera House last night included a world premiere of “Faces” by local composer Ben Stonaker, a layered and richly textured work with deceiving simplicity. The Chamber Orchestra featured soprano Amy Pfrimmer and harpist Catherine Anderson, under the direction of Phillip Larroque. The first half of the concert included pieces of the first documented operatic performance in New Orleans (and the U.S., since New Orleans had the first opera house in the country)—André-Ernest Grétry’s Sylvain from 1796.
