Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce New Orleans Show, Tour with Trombone Shorty

Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to New Orleans as part of their upcoming 24-date North American Tour. The massively popular rock outfit, who headlined Jazz Fest’s Acura Stage earlier this year, will perform at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday, January 10

But the New Orleans connection doesn’t stop there. Local icons Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will serve as the opening act for the duration of the tour, while former RHCP drummer Jack Irons will play an additional opening set during the tour’s January stops.

Considering RHCP’s history of on stage collaborations with New Orleans artists, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that some Trombone Shorty sit ins are in the cards for next year’s jaunt.

Fan club pre-sale for all of the upcoming dates will begin at 10am on Wednesday, September 21. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 23. All ticket purchases will be accompanied by a digital download of RHCP’s 2016 album, The Getaway.
