Less than one week from today, New Orleans’ first Fried Chicken Festival will take over Lafayette Square in the CBD. The festivities are set to go down from 11am to 8pm on Sunday, September 25.
While we already knew the festival’s music lineup–John Boutte, Sweet Crude, Tank & the Bangas, Brass-a-holics and DJ Mannie Fresh–we can now confirm more details about the event’s food offerings.
NOLA.com reports that the festival will feature 28 vendors, with 22 making chicken six making other dishes. There will be a few options in the drinks department as well, including a special rum cocktail, craft beers from NOLA Brewing co., daiquiris and wine.
The festival has also revealed that is Best Fried Chicken competition will be split into two categories: Best Use of Fried Chicken in a Dish and Best Fried Chicken. Local food writers will judge the contest.
