Crawfish boiler extraordinaire Chris “Shaggy” Davis will host his annual Shag Fest birthday celebration at d.b.a. on Thursday, August 3. Much like last year’s gathering, the 2017 party will feature a tribute to Jerry Garcia, as well as a one-off super jam and a few special guests.

The Garcia tribute will be led by Wake of the Dead, an increasingly active Grateful Dead cover project comprised of Papa Mali, Reggie Scanlan, Dave Easley and Peter Bradish. The group will be celebrating the legendary guitarist’s birthday, which falls on August 1 (Shaggy’s birthday takes place the following day on August 2).

Also on the bill will be the Shagfest All-Stars (George Porter Jr., Dave Malone, Jermal Watson and Billy Iuso) and  Daria and the Hip Drops. June Yamigishi, Joe Lawlor, Kristen Bowden and more will join the fray as special guests.
