Since 1997, Superfly Presents—best known now as the folks behind Bonnaroo—has been extending the Jazz Fest experience beyond the Fairgrounds into venues around the city and even onto the river aboard the Creole Queen Riverboat. This year’s concert series boasts some impressive names, such as Warren Haynes, the North Mississippi All Stars, Soulive, Dr. Klaw, the Greyboy Allstars, the Funky Meters, Chali 2na, Trombone Shorty, Galactic, and more.

The Riverboat shows kick off Thursday, April 28 with Galactic and frequent guest collaborators Corey Henry of Rebirth and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5. The North Mississippi Allstars leave shore the following night. Friday of the second weekend, Soulive plays the Creole Queen with guitarist Eric Krasno’s side project Dr. Klaw and the Shady Horns. The final night on the Queen is Saturday, May 7, with the reunited, seminal ’90s jazz-funk group the Greyboy Allstars. Kirk Joseph’s 504 Brass Band open all the Riverboat shows. Tickets range from $35-$45 and can be purchased HERE. The boat departs at 8:30 p.m.

Superfly at Jazz Fest won’t be confined to the water, though, with two big shows taking place at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre. First a CD release party of sorts for the Warren Haynes Band, who will bringing out a slew of special local guests, including Trombone Shorty, George Porter, Jr., the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and more. Anders Osborne with Stanton Moore open the show Thursday, May 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45, available HERE.

The next night is another big blowout, with Galactic and guests sharing the bill with the Funky Meters Friday, May 6. Besides their own sets, both bands will come together for what Superfly is billing as a “Superfunkjam”. Galactic has been taking requests on Facebook for the super-set. Tickets for the night are $56, available HERE.
