Tipitina’s Reveals Stellar Lineup for Instruments A Comin’

Tipitina’s has unveiled the lineup for the 15th annual Instruments A Comin’ benefit, which once again take place on the Monday during Jazz Fest season (April 25).

This year’s edition will honor the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Big chief Donald Harrison Jr. Accordingly, the event will feature music from both honorees, with Donald Harrison Jr. set to play with the Tipitina’s interns.

Other performers include Galactic, Anders Osborne, The New Orleans Suspects, Walter “Wolfman” Washington & The Roadmasters, Honey Island Swamp Band, Bo Dollis Jr. & The Wild Magnolias and The Nth Power. The evening will also feature special guest appearances by John “Papa” Gros, Big Sam Williams and more.

The party will begin at 6pm with an outdoor street party that will be free and open to the public. Outdoor events include a silent auction, a Battle of the Marching Bands (featuring schools that benefit from the fundraiser), a Wall of Fame induction ceremony for Donald Harrison Jr., and a Walk of Fame induction ceremony for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

In keeping with tradition, the proceeds from this year’s show will be used to purchase new muscial instruments for New Orleans area school band programs. The program has program has provided more than $3.15 million worth of musical instruments to 101 Louisiana schools since its inception.
