Tulane Hosts Free Seminar on Music and Entertainment Law

This Friday, June 5, Tulane University will host a free half day conference on music and entertainment law in New Orleans.

The discussion will cover a variety of topics of importance to New Orleans musicians, music lovers, and music industry workers, including copyrights, trademarks, noise disputes and resultant lawsuits, the use of song lyrics against musicians in criminal and civil lawsuits, recording and management contracts, music distribution issues, and more.

The two panel leaders and principal speakers are “Rock and Roll Law Professor” Michael Olivas (Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of Houston Law Center, author or co-author of 15 books, and syndicated radio show host of “The Law of Rock and Roll”) and Yocel Alonso (practicing attorney and adjunct Professor of Entertainment Law at the University of Houston Law Center).

The conference begins at 8 a.m. at the Tulane Law School. It is free to the general public and $200 for law students seeking CLE credit (the fee includes course materials and breakfast.)

Ample parking will be available on Tulane’s campus.
