Upturn Arts Features Tank and the Bangas in Master Guest Artist Workshops

Upturn Arts, the arts education program in the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans, has announced an upcoming collaboration with Tank and the Bangas. Uptown Arts is known for hosting weekly master guest artist workshops for young artists every Thursday. These workshops, held at NOLA Spaces (1719 Toledano)  provide New Orleans youth with access to arts education while immersing them in the vibrant culture of New Orleans.

The master guest artist workshops at Upturn Arts aim to inspire young artists by introducing them to new skills, fresh perspectives, and avenues for self-expression. Artists such as visual artist John Bukaty, Cha Wa, Kristin Diable, and Laveau Contraire have been instrumental in guiding and encouraging the participants, impacting their artistic journeys.

Upturn Arts recently announced a performance and music-sharing session with the Grammy-nominated group Tank and the Bangas, scheduled for July 20. This event underscores the organization’s belief in exposing young artists to various art forms and genres. By collaborating with local artists like Tank and the Bangas, Upturn Arts seeks to inspire the youth and foster their enthusiasm for arts education. The event will also allow the artists to share their personal stories and insights on achieving success in the career they love.

Upturn Arts will launch an online fundraising campaign to raise $10,000 in 10 days to prepare for the upcoming event. The proceeds from this campaign will be dedicated to supporting the organization’s teen internship program. Currently, Upturn Arts employs 15 teenagers as camp counselors, providing them with stipends of $50 per day as well as valuable training. The funds raised will help expand the teen programs, ensuring year-round training and equipping the teens with essential job skills to plan for their futures.

To contribute to this fundraising campaign and support the development of young artists, individuals interested in making a difference can find more information on how to donate by visiting the organization’s website.
