Where to Get Your Live Music Fix This Week

The City’s rules for live music performance are a little nebulous but we’ve got the scoop on a few places where you can enjoy some socially-distanced live shows.

Tipitina’s (Sidewalk)

Stanton Moore, Joe Ashlar, and Danny Abel will perform on the sidewalk outside of Tipitina’s at 4 p.m. Friday, November 6. André Bohren and Jonathan Pretus will perform The Beatles covers Saturday, November 7 from noon-2 p.m.

Music Box Village

Tickets are on still sale to see cellist Helen Gillet and Mike Dillon to play live outdoors Sunday, November 8 at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. (Other performances are sold out). Visit https://musicboxvillage.com/calendar to purchase tickets.

 

Corner of Freret and Burdette

On November 6, from 5-7 p.m., you can catch k two previous performers who know each other well, having played together numerous times in the past:  Songwriter and masterful acoustic guitarist John Fohl playing together with songwriter and blues artist Johnny Sansone on guitar, harmonica and accordion.

 

New Orleans Jazz Museum

As previously listed, you can enjoy socially-distanced sets from outside the Jazz Museum (or on the terraces of Louisiana Pizza Kitchen or The Italian Barrel) as bands play from the balcony. Michael Watson will perform November 10, TBC Brass Band is scheduled for November 17, and Anais St. John plays November 24. The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will hold ticketed performances in the museum yard November 19. All shows, except LPO, at 5 p.m. For more information, visit here.

 

New Orleans Museum of Art

Join the LPO Brass Quintet for a program that features music from Baroque to Blues.
Vance Woolf, trumpet; Steve Orejudos, trumpet; Mollie Pate, horn; Matthew Wright, trombone; and Robert Nunez, tuba perform Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m.  Opéra Nouvelle will present Mozart’s greatest hits andy English arias in the the Besthoff Sculpture Garden on Sunday, November 8, at 2 p.m. Advance registration is required for this free concert. Performance will be held at the amphitheater in the new portion of the garden. Patrons should enter off of Enrique Alferez Drive to the right of the main NOMA building.
