You’re invited to get the Mojo Working for Jan Ramsey Sunday at Tipitina’s

The Funky Uncle, New Orleans Jazz Museum, and Tipitina’s are proudly sponsoring a benefit to get the mojo working for OffBeat editor, Jan Ramsey, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer and needs financial help. Join Kermit Ruffins, Leon Nocentelli, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and more on Sunday, October 2 at Tipitina’s for an all-day event aimed at helping Jan Ramsey. The schedule is as follows:

Stage 1 (The Funky Uncle Stage, outside of Tipitina’s) will feature Kermit Ruffins at noon, Marc Stone at 1:30 p.m., The Bucktown All-Stars at 3 p.m., Boukou Groove at 4:30 p.m. , Jake Eckert & Friends at 6 p.m., Russell Batiste and Friends at 7:30 p.m., and the Funky Uncle All Stars featuring Leo Nocentelli at 9 p.m.

Jan Ramsey started OffBeat Magazine and its associated entities over three decades ago as an effort to improve and expand local music culture and business. Known for her scathing “Mojo Mouth” essays, Jan has been a music activist since the early 1980s. She will be undergoing treatment to battle this rare form of lung cancer. All funds from the show go to Jan and her husband to offset healthcare costs and family living during this difficult time.

Admission is based on donation. You can donate in advance to Jan’s GoFundMe here. Tipitina’s is located at 501 Napoleon Avenue.
