The British glam/goth band Gene Loves Jezebel was formed in the early 1980s by twin brothers Jay and Michael Aston. Differing opinions on the band’s direction led to the Aston brothers splitting, Michael finding their psychedelic, guitar-oriented dance pop too commercial. Today, there are two Gene Loves Jezebels—Jay’s in the UK and Michael’s in the States. Both versions have continued recording, and Michael’s Gene Loves Jezebel will play tonight at Siberia (2227 St Claude Ave.) with Kindest Lines and DJ Solitary opening.
