Chickie Wah Wah to host 24-hour Clash Day Celebration

All Clash, all day. Chickie Wah Wah will host a 24-hour Clash cover show per the International Clash Day celebration started by Seattle-based radio station KEXP. The event starts Tuesday at 12 a.m. on February 7.

Led by Papa Mali & The Radio Clash Allstars, the event will feature special performances by CC Adcock, Alex McMurray, Meschiya Lake, Tommy McLain, Ben Jaffe, Amanda Shaw, David Torkanowsky, Paul Sanchez, Rusty Lazer, C’est Funk, DJ Kid Audiophonic, Phil Degruy, Rene Coman of the Iguanas, Michael Mullins of Zita, members of the Preservation Hall Band, The Rob Hudak, Mark Mullins of Bonerama, Dustin Louque, Ethanol Merman, John Michael and more.

The event will also feature the  “I fought the claw, the claw won” crawfish boil with a special tribute to The Specials vocalist Terry Hall and a Clash photo exhibit by rock photographer Steve Rapport.

“We’re anti-fascist, we’re anti-violence, we’re anti-racist, and we’re pro-creative. We’re against ignorance,” were the words of vocalist Joe Strummer about The Clash’s ethos, which is honored today by the yearly celebration.

The British band, Clash were one of the first major punk bands to emerge from the initial wave of punk rock in 1976. They’re best known for the songs “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” “London Calling,” and “I Fought the Law.”
