Trombone Shorty Joins Brass Bands at Treme Jam

In today’s Weekly Beat, we announced Friday’s jam session to start the 200th anniversary celebration of the Treme neighborhood. The party takes place Friday at the New Orleans African American Museum, where the Pinettes Brass Band, the New Birth Brass Band and the Tremé Brass Band will perform. Today, organizers announced that Trombone Shorty will make a guest appearance as well.

The event starts a year-long celebration of the Treme, which will be 200 years old in 2012. Tickets are $50 in advance and at the door, and the evening goes from 6-9 p.m. For more information on the jam session and the celebration of the Treme’s bicentennial, go to Treme2012.com. Proceeds go to help fund future events.
