Vans Warped Tour cancels New Orleans area stop

Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman explained the cancellation in a video that was posted to festival’s Facebook page, though he didn’t offer many details beyond what was mentioned in the written statement.

Vans Warped Tour’s Metairie stop was slated to feature a variety of alternative, punk and metal acts like Hawthorne Heights, GWAR, American Authors, CKY, Anti-Flag, Hatebreed, The Adolescents, Boston Manor, The Acacia Strain and much more. It would have marked the second time that the festival has swung through the New Orleans area since 2001 (last year’s event at Mardi Gras World was the first). Fans that were planning on attending the event can check out the list of other stops via the Vans Warped Tour site.

Today’s news comes two days after the Outlaw Music Festival—another one day event that was scheduled to take place at The Shrine on Airline—announced the cancellation of its New Orleans area stop. That touring festival was to bring Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, The Avett Brothers and more to the Metairie baseball stadium. There’s no word on whether or not the two cancellations are related, but the Outlaw Music Festival did note that its decision was “due to a tour scheduling conflict.”
